Hello, my name is Shelley Ross and when my best friend was diagnosed with endometriosis, I saw firsthand the awful effects this Endo can have on a woman and her relationship with her husband or significant other. I felt terrible standing idly by, watching it all unfold and I knew that I had to do something to help. So I began to extensively research endometriosis. My breast were so sore that even when I walked it hurt,& its not normally a symptom that I have during pms,or my period. Ive been constipated & I thought that was the reason for my nausea. I recently have been having loose bowels.I do find myself having to urinate more than often, but I also feel like I am always thirsty. Sometimes I feel little pains in the abdominal area,& less intense period cramps. Since my last period came 2 weeks early, I am unsure if my next period will be on the 12 (when i started the last time) or the 26th which is my normal start date.A family friend said endometriosis has similar symptoms. If anyone has any idea what could be wrong please help. I work part time & go to school full time so my health insurance isnt the best.

I had the same thing recently. Lasted for six months. Anyway, for whatever hormonal reason, the hormones were not holding my lining in place so I had to start a birth control. All is well now and I have short normal birth control periods. Simple as that. There are so many symptoms for endometriosis, your problem could be that or as simple as changing your birth control pills. My periods sounded exactly like you are describing.

Most of your symptoms, especially going to the bathroom, nausea, sounds like IC. and maybe IBS because of the bowels, and a hormonal imbalance that can be helped with B.C. pills.

I did have endometriosis for 15 years and now have IC. All of the symptoms blend together and sound identical. It’s best to get knowledge and understand for yourself ilke you are doing and definately tell you doc.

Constipation oddly comes in two forms – loose stools or not at all.

Constipation is a symptome of endo, if the endo is near your bowels.

Mainly for endo symptoms are painful periods, don’t usually last a long time, but are nasty. Tender abdomen (both endo and IC), painful intercourse, very hormonal.

I hope this helped you out a little. I was going by all that i have learned from going through it all. I am not a pro at all, def check with your doctor and ask about IBS and IC You will be so much happier if you can get those diagnosed. Since your insurance is poor, you can try to self treat as much as possible by yourself, as none of this is cureable, but it is treatable. Try changing your diet. that may make a difference with going to the bathroom all the time. Also you may qualify for a different state insurance since you are in school if that is possible. Mabybe that would be better for you, worth looking into. goodluck with school.. Let me know if you would like to talk more. I’ve been there and know it is frustrating.

I have had endometriosis for the last few years and was on birth control to help to keep it from speading. The doctor told me when I wanted to get pregnant just to stop the birth control right before so I went off of birth control about a month and a half ago hoping to get pregnant while I can. Does it sound like I could be pregnant? What are early pregnancy symptoms like for someone who has endometriosis? Is it just a little more painful than a regular pregnancy?

It does sound like you could possible be pregnant.
Early pregnancy Signs:
• 10. Tender, swollen breasts
• 9. Fatigue
• 8. Implantation bleeding
• 7. Nausea or vomiting
• 6. Increased sensitivity to odors
• 5. Abdominal bloating
• 4. Frequent urination
• 3. A missed period
• 2. Your basal body temperature stays high
• 1. The proof: A positive home pregnancy test

This is how it was for my sister. She was diagnosed when she was 19, had troubles all her life, with pain, also with ovarian cysts, with her sex life, etc….you name it, she had it.

She was put on bc pills before she decided to get pregnant. She herself didn’t have problems becoming pregnant and everything was great in pregnancy….i remember she told me she couldn’t believe that there was no pain. It was the same during breastfeeding but once she finished with the breastfeeding, the pain was gone.

You may decide to start using bc pills after your pregnancy, without the sugar pills in order to prevent ovulation. Acetaminophen can help you and it is safe during pregnancy!

Here’s the deal:
I went to the doctor the other day because here lately (for about the last 2-3 mos) I have been EXTREMELY fatigued and just very weak. I also started getting lesions on my scalp and began losing patches of my hair around the hair line. My acne was getting a little worse, irritable off and on, and just overall a feeling that something is wrong. Then, my right thumb started getting really sore around the bottom joint (the joint closest to my palm). I thought maybe I did something to it, so I treated it, but it’s not getting better. In fact, it’s getting worse. It feels like I need to pop it, but if I pull it or move it a certain way, it hurts really bad. Then, my left middle finger started doing the same thing. It’s in the middle joint though. I also sleep on the heating pad every night because my back seriously hurts. Well, what sent me to the doctor out of real concern, is about two weeks ago, I woke up from a nap and came to sit on the couch. I was just sitting there and all of a sudden I started feeling REALLY bad. I got real sick to my stomach, started shaking all over, my limbs felt really heavy, and the thought of moving anything was unbearable. When I finally started feeling a little stronger, I got up to go the bathroom to get a wet rag. When I stood up and began walking, I passed out. I was out for about 2 minutes and woke up very weak. I think maybe my blood sugar dropped, but I am not sure, as I’ve never been diagnosed hypoglycemic, but the symptoms matched that exactly. I ate some sugary foods, then stabalized myself with some peanut butter and crackers. About an hour later I felt better, but just worn out.
So, I saw the doctor this last week and she said she felt it was my blood sugar that made me pass out as well, but was not real sure about everything else. She said she’s going to test me for rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. She’s also going to check my cortisol levels, which I’m assuming is because she thinks my adrenal glands may not be functioning very well.
I am under a massive amount of stress (no joke), sometimes only get about 3-5 hours of sleep a night, and am required to be active all day. My past medical problems/surgeries are:
tachycardia
hypotension
8 kidney stone removals with stint placement
gallbladder removed
appendix removed
c-section
anxiety
ovarian cysts
endometriosis

I have no other medical issues that I know of. The medications I’m on are:
Lexapro
BCP
Phentermine (I’m 5’9" tall and weigh 168 lbs currently)

Is there anyone who knows more about rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and adrenal disease? Or do you know of anything else that could be going on? I just have a feeling something is wrong inside, but I don’t know for sure. I’m having blood work done this week. Just a bit concerned, so any advice, or answers, you may have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

I’m sure the reason your doctor is checking your cortisol level is to rule out/diagnose Cushing Syndrome; which fits a lot of your symptoms. Since you already have ovarian cysts, you probably have Polycystic Ovary Disease; your symptoms match there too. Are you around menopausal age? Menopause has a lot of those symptoms too. It is good that you are getting checked for arthritis and lupus too. Another question, how long have you been on the Lexapro? It has a lot of yucky side effects that could be causing some of your symptoms. I’ve kind of thrown a lot out there but just trying to give you some ideas. I’ve listed the links to sites about the info I stated above. I hope all this helps. Best of luck!

Praying you are able to get a diagnosis soon and relief from your symptoms.

I personally don’t have it, but you said you were also looking for symptoms…so here are some things you can look for.

For IBS:
Abdominal distention, excessive flatulence, bloating, continuous urge to defecate, and a feeling of incomplete evacuation of the bowel. There really isn’t a specific diagnostic test for IBS but there is what is known as the Rome II criteria for IBS. The Rome II Criteria consists of abdominal pain that has been present for 12 weeks (consecutive or not) within the past 12 months (sounds like your situation), along with 2 of the following: 1) relieved by defecation, 2) onset associated with a change in stool frequency, or 3) onset associated with change in stool appearance.

IBS can also be associated with diarrhea, constipation, or both (alternating of course). Depending on what you’re experiencing, there are a few medications that you could benefit from. Imodium to relieve diarrhea, zelnorm to relieve constipation, or lotronex also for diarrhea. If you are significantly stressed or have an intolerance to specific foods, those could be possible causes to your symptoms. Try keeping a log of what foods you consume that aggravate your symptoms the most. Some foods such as broccoli, cabbage, beans, brussel sprouts, asparagus, potatoes, corn, noodles, and wheat produce excess gas that irritates the bowel; avoiding or limiting their intake may provide some relief as well.

If you experience any blood in your stool, weight loss, fatigue, or abdominal pain you may have IBD, which is a more serious disorder when compared to IBS.

Like I said, I don’t have it, but I just finished brushing up on it for work and saw this. I hope it helps some.

for the last few months i have noticed that about midway through my menstrual cycle i start to get very sharp, cramp-like pains on either side of my stomach, its a shifting pain that also manifests itself in my lower back and also just below the belly button. one month it hurt more on one side most, and then it seems to switch from month to month.i also have a weird "full" feeling in my sides. and no, i do not think its gas problems. Also another symptom im having is difficultly going to the bathroom, no pain, but just hard to get it to come out!

i have been to the doctor several times and the emergency room once. Ive had multiple urinalysis tests done, and blood work done three times. the urine tests came back free of any infections, and the blood work( tested for all sorts of things, i.e. complete blood count, thyroid, diabetes…etc etc). So my blood tests showed there was no sign of inflammation or infections, so the doctors doubt its my appendix(i also have had no nausea or fever whatsoever) or gall bladder. the doctors thought i might have ovarian cysts, but the doctor in the emergency room last night seems to think its endometriosis. they have set up appointments for me to have abdominal and pelvic ultrasounds done, but the earliest appointment they could get for me was the 9th of next month. so naturally in the mean time, im scared! im petrified that there IS something wrong with either my gall bladder or appendix and i wont know until its too late! anyone who has experience this type of pain, please offer some HELPFUL advice. any rude comments will be reported asap.
and yes, i have seen my gyno recently, in july as a matter of fact. nothing seemed amiss at that point, however they didnt do ultrasounds or anything like that lol.

It may be simply constipation, all the symptoms point to it.try to have more roughage in your diet prune juice a sm.glass a day in the morning plenty of fruit veg & water @ least 6 glasses a day.try a gentle laxative like lactolose or 1 your pharmacy/druggist recommends try it what you got to lose? if it’s not the prune juice fruit veg water even the roughage won’t harm you it’s just healthy living & the laxative you just have to stop& you still have your appointnent.I really do hope it helps & it ‘s not anything to sinister.Good luck.

The doctors thought it must be endometriosis, so since then have been backwards and forwards to hospital and doctors, i have had blood tests but nothing came up. they gave me some hormone pills to take but i have not read anything good about them so far and i believe nature cures. I worry that i could have UTI or something very sinister that they are not getting. im just wondering if anyone has had the same symptoms or any more ideas as to what it could be? natural medicines etc
Thankyou.

Hi

Sorry to hear about all your problems, It sounds to me like most of your problems are connected to your bowels, why did you need some of your colon removed? Are you still being seen at the gastro department? At a guess i would say you have crohns or ulcerative collitis. It doent sound like andometriosis to me, i have suffered endometriosis for 6 years and i dont see too many matches here. Im sorry i cant help you more!
